Happy National AI Literacy Day! 🤖✨

Today is a day of action - a nationwide movement to demystify artificial intelligence and ensure every learner is prepared for an AI-enabled world. At Coco Coders, we believe that the best way to understand AI isn’t just to talk about it, but to build with it.

That’s why we are incredibly proud to continue our support as an official Hour of AI partner. Following our collaboration with Code.org for the global launch of Hour of AI, we’re doubling down on our mission to make AI education accessible, ethical, and, above all, fun!

Why AI Literacy Matters Now

Artificial Intelligence is no longer a futuristic concept; it’s the engine behind the apps our kids use, the recommendations they see, and the tools they’ll eventually use in their careers. National AI Literacy Day reminds us that "access" to AI isn't enough - students need the critical thinking skills to question it, the ethical foundation to use it safely, and the technical skills to shape it.

How Coco Coders is Leading the Way

As part of our commitment to the Hour of AI initiative, we have developed specialized, hands-on activities designed to take students from passive consumers to active creators:

  • For the Young Explorers (Ages 6–9): Hour of AI in Scratch Using the familiar world of Scratch, younger coders dive into machine learning. They build a project that teaches a computer how to identify different animals, learning firsthand how data "trains" an AI to make decisions.

  • For the Future Innovators (Ages 10–14): Hour of AI in JavaScript Older students step into the world of text-based coding and art history. They use JavaScript and machine learning to build a "forgery detector," exploring how AI can solve real-world problems while discussing the vital role of human oversight.

Bridging the Gap Between Code and Ethics

AI literacy isn't just about writing code; it's about understanding the "why" and the "what if." Our activities are designed to highlight both the incredible potential of AI to make the world a better place and the importance of recognizing its limitations and biases.

Join the Movement

Whether you are a parent looking to spark curiosity at home or a teacher wanting to bring cutting-edge tech into the classroom, our Hour of AI activities are ready for you. We offer both teacher-led lessons for schools and student-led guides for independent learners.

This National AI Literacy Day, let’s move beyond the hype and start building. We can’t wait to see how the next generation imagines the future of technology!
